Dead End Derby (DED) is a flat track roller derby league based in Christchurch, New Zealand. It currently consists of two home teams, The Filthy Habits and Carnage Academy plus two travel teams "the DED all stars" and "Living Dead Rollers" which compete against teams from other leagues. Founded in Nov 2007 by controversial NZ skater Cherry Blunt and her sister Crass, along with MissChevusMynx, Mystique, Bitch n Famous, Stevie Nails, Blood Angel and Ur shadow they formed 3 teams The Filthy Habits ( known for their spectacular musical entrances ) Cellblock Brawlers ( who had their own rowdy fan cheerleaders "the blue crew" ) and Carnage Academy ( undefeated Tequila Mockingbird Cup champion school girls ) The league played its first bout in September 2009,splitting the league into two demo teams "Hellbound Harlots" and "S.A.S" bringing in the countries largest roller derby crowd at the time of around 2000 people 〔"(Roller Derby hits Christchurch this weekend )", ''3 News'', 11 September 2009〕 and in 2011 it played in the nation's first inter-island bout, when it took on Richter City Roller Derby, from Auckland.〔"(Christchurch's roll comes to an end )", ''Fairfax Media'', 14 November 2011〕 Four skaters from the league were selected to play for Roller Derby Team New Zealand in the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup. Hurrican Hori, MisshevusMynx, Black Panther and Evil K Knevil.
